You will need to install Mozilla's calendar add-on Lightning.

What version of Thunderbird are you using?

If it is 2.x, then Niversoft has a product (called SyncCGP) which will sync TB and your calendar, contacts and tasks.

If it is 3.x then create a remote calendar using CalDAV. http://your.mail.server:8100/Guide/CalDAV.html explains how.
