Um, no.

Hierarchical File System (HFS) has been the standard Mac filesystem for
decades. Any 10.4 boot volume will be formatted as some variant of HFS, most
commonly HFS+ Journaled. It's also the highest-performance Mac filesystem
for general use. It has nothing to do with whether drives are attached
through the internal SATA bus or through a fiber channel card.

Perhaps you were thinking of NFS?
