For purposes of backup I have the Group set to a "mail" group. This
allows a non-root process to backup mail.
However, CGPro runs as root and saves all new and changed files with
the group set to "root".

Is there a way to change how CGPro saves files so that the group
setting is "mail"?

Several recent builds of CGPro for Linux in rpm format failed to set group ownership and the SETGID bit on the CGPro executable. This has been fixed in CGPro 6.2.2.
Please see is the ownership and access right bits are properly set on the /opt/CommuniGate/CGServer.
