additional info:
I set Thunderbird config options calendar.debug.log and calendar.debug.log.verbose to true which results in the following in the TB error console:
CalDAV: Calendar CGPCalendar doen't support scheduling; freebusy query not possible
(CGPCalendar is the name I gave the calendar in Lightning under properties)

I've got Thunderbird 9, Lightning 1.1 and CGP 5.4.3. There appears to be
no change to the behavior in Lightning for the latest versions. See

Time again for my periodic "cry in the wilderness", hoping that

Does anyone have Thunderbird/Lightning working with CGP via CalDAV
such that:
1) free/busy (availability) works when inviting attendees?
Most of our linux clients are still using Thunderbird 3 from RedHat 5.x.
It still works on this platform provided they actually have file space
to create the freebusy.vfb. We're fighting filespace issues now that
more people are using Pronto or IM (logs). I'm curious about what
behavior the earlier client exhibits that the newer clients don't. I see
the LDAP lookups in the server log, but no attempt to retrieve a vfb
URL. I'll take a look at the working and non-working clients tomorrow to
see what the logs indicate.
2) invitees receive an invitation (email)?
We still work around this issue by having them create appointments on
the local calendar, then move them to their server calendar.
I'm particularly interested in CGP 5.4+ and Thunderbird 8+ with
corresponding Lightning.
