According to Communigate, the email: attribute of a contact is designed to contain "only an email address" even though it lets you set almost anything you wish for the value.
To Communigate, "email address" would seem to mean: mjstraw@iup.edu
To my mind, it should mean an rfc822 address like:
"Mark J Strawcutter" <mjstraw@iup.edu>
However, the latter causes all sorts of "interesting anomalies" when accessed with simplex-based webmail skins, CardDAV, SyncCGP/Thunderbird address books or ActiveSync (don't know about MAPI and others)
Feels like a throwback to the 90's
