Still in Firefox, you can even do that without extension:
Tools -> Clear Recent History -> tick Active Logins under Details.

There is no cookie.

This is HTTP Auth. This is a stateless authentication. You are never "logged in" or "logged out" of the interface.

Each time you access webadmin, webadmin says to your browser "hey, you need a password to access this page". The first time you access it, the browser asks you for the password. It then remembers it for the rest of the browser session, and remembers this particular path ("realm", the address without the "file" part) needs a password. Then, along each further request to this realm, the browser sends the password to avoid the additional round-trip of request/auth-required/request-with-password.

The HTTP Auth system and implementation standards were implemented back in the days when browsers didn't have tabs. In most browsers, when you closed a window, the "remember and don't ask" flag disappeard with that window. This is still true today, but with tabs, you don't often close a window and the auth is remembered.

So this is a browser issue, not a CGP one. Use any system implementing HTTP Auth, either basic or digest, and you will face the same behavior.

See http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec15.html#sec15.6
"Existing HTTP clients and user agents typically retain authentication information indefinitely. HTTP/1.1. does not provide a method for a server to direct clients to discard these cached credentials."

Yes, even the standard admit this is a defect, but that's the way it is. The only way to get rid of that for now would be that CGS implements a cookie or session-based login for webadmin like they do for webmail, but that would have different shortcomings that would probably affect the workflow of everyone here, so personnally I prefer it stays as it is and we each deal with it.

Use Firefox with the Web Developer extension, and hit Tools -> Web Developer -> Miscellaneous -> Clear Private Data -> HTTP Authentication.

I find it keeps the cookies and you are still technically logged in. If I close just the cgate tab, and if I were to reopen one, It still keeps me logged in. Id really love to see a log out option as well.

You don't have to close all Tabs and your Browser, Just close the CGP Admin Tab.

I have to say this is a real pain. Especially when using tabbed
browsing. Having to close all tabs and browser just to logout from CGP
web UI is silly.
